The year 2011 marks a departure in strategy for many private equity investors. At the top end, the largest investors are no longer writing tickets for hundreds of millions of dollars, while at the smaller end of the scale, investors are no longer struggling to access over-subscribed offerings as they were back in 2007. A majority are putting more of their faith, and their money, in mid-market or small buyout funds.
