Employers' Guide to Recruiting

Hundreds of T-birds attend European Reunion and Global Business Dialogue

Germany's capital city offered the perfect blend of history, culture and fun for nearly 200 T-bird alumni who attended the Thunderbird European Reunion and Global Business Dialogue held May 24-27 in Berlin.

During the four-day event, alumni learned from more than 20 world class speakers at the Global Business Dialogue. They also spent time touring Berlin by river boat, enjoying a gala dinner among friends old and new and participating in a variety of reunion activities.

"The Berlin European Reunion and Global Business Dialogue proved once again the magic of Thunderbird." said Interim President Barbara Barrett. "Thunderbird alumni and other supporters attended in force – from more than 30 countries."

Second Annual Global Giving Competition kicks off
It's the final three weeks of the fiscal year - ending June 30 - and last week Thunderbird kicked off its second annual Global Giving Competition. This year, the winning team will be featured in the fall issue of Thunderbird Magazine, where every donor will see his or her name published. They will also receive a personal thank you letter from Thunderbird's president. Two runner-up teams will be recognized separately.

This year, Thunderbird's goal is to have 15 percent alumni participation by June 30, 2012. This means we need 950 more gifts to reach that goal. Please make your gift today here.

Employers' Guide to Recruiting Interns now available
Every year, more than 60 percent of Thunderbird's students participate in an internship experience. And Thunderbird's Career Management Center regularly fields requests from alumni who are eager to learn more about the recruitment process for interns. To help answer your questions, the Career Management Center developed a resource guide outlining everything alumni need to recruit and hire a T-bird intern for their organizations. Featuring templates for internship job descriptions, an FAQ, a sample internship evaluation form and critical information on how to post an internship, this guide provides alumni with all of the resources needed to hire an intern.

Want to share your story? Thunderbird Stories Project wants to hear it
The Thunderbird Stories Project is looking for the best travel stories from T-birds past and present for Volume 2, which will publish this winter. Volume 1: Tales of Global Adventure was published last October and is available in print and Kindle editions on Amazon. The theme for Volume 2 is "Off the Beaten Path" and we are looking for stories about holidays and festivals, local hangouts, into the wild, and friends in unexpected places. Please submit story abstracts, 200-300 words in length, to stories@thunderbird.edu by June 22, 2012. Each submission will be reviewed as candidates to be developed into finished pieces for publication. If you have a story to share, but are concerned about being able to put it into writing, we can work with you to transform your oral tale into a written one. The Thunderbird Stories Project is run by an all-volunteer staff, and all proceeds from the project support student scholarships.
