May News Briefs Thunderbird Mobile Available NOW for iPHONE & iPAD Thunderbird Mobile is now here and allows members of the Thunderbird community to connect with the school and each other no matter where they are in the world! Users of smartphones and other internet capable phones now have access to news and information, global business research and the Thunderbird global community. The Thunderbird Mobile application is available now for iPhone and iPad, with Android and mobile Web versions coming soon. Thunderbird Mobile is available to anyone, but only alumni, students, faculty and staff can tap into the Thunderbird global network allowing them to update and search profiles, find one another by current address and/or GPS location (optional) and map their search results. Global Giving Competition kicks off We have entered the final two months of Campaign Thunderbird, and in the spirit of the friendly rivalry built during Foundations, we thought we'd liven things up with the school's first Global Giving Competition. The country or region that produces the highest percentage of donors will be featured in the October 2011 edition of Thunderbird Magazine. Donors' names will be published in the magazine, and winners will receive a thank you letter from Dr. Cabrera and will be recognized during the 11-11-11 Global Celebration. Visit the network at www.thunderbirdangelnetwork.org. 2011 Thunderbird Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year nominations now being accepted Nominations for the Thunderbird Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year award are being accepted through June 3, 2011. The 2010 recipient, Robert Phillips '94, is the founder and managing partner of Intelligent Leisure Solutions in Brazil. "Thunderbird gave me exposure to people who were truly international," Phillips said. This network of classmates has been a support to Robert during his launch of Intelligent Leisure Solutions, a group of five Brazilian companies focused on Internet solutions for luxury travel, tourism development and real estate. Winners will be the subject of a case study to be included in the entrepreneurship curriculum at Thunderbird with a feature in Thunderbird Magazine. The Thunderbird Stories project is looking for the best travel stories from T-birds past and present for a book to be published in the fall. We are seeking submissions of story abstracts of 200-300 words, which will be reviewed as candidates to be developed into finished pieces for publication. Editors will work with authors to polish grammar and flow of stories selected for publication Concerned about being able to express your story in writing? Don't worry, we can help! Stories can range from humorous escapades to daring adventures to more serious life lessons. Learn more here. T-bird license plate coming soon! Arizona law makers recently approved SB1402, which was signed April 28, 2011 by Gov. Jan Brewer and allows the state to offer Thunderbird license plates to drivers in Arizona. The vanity plates are similar to those currently offered for other universities and non-profit organizations, and was a project set forth by T-bird alumni Vishal Baijal '08 and Aram Chavez '08.
