Alumni Network Board
Dear T-birds,
There is a special closeness that binds all T-birds together.
Nearly 40,000 of us fanned out across the globe, and yet we still maintain our connections — with the school, our favorite faculty and each other.
In each other we find more than just alumni. As T-birds, we find business contacts, lifelong mentors, traveling companions — and of course our dearest friends.
We can all remember our time on campus in the Arizona desert. Our homes felt so far away, yet the entire world was within our grasp.
We all had our own unique Thunderbird experiences:
- Regional nights at the Fish.
- Posting job rejection letters on the Pub wall.
- The flag ceremony during Foundations.
- Pub Crawl/Thunder Olympics with our Cohorts.
All of these experiences, and the journeys we've had since we graduated, have shaped who we are today.

TEM Lab making impact on three continentsFive Thunderbird consulting teams have deployed to Central America, Asia and Africa this Spring and Summer for a range of consulting assignments for the Thunderbird Emerging Markets Laboratory (TEM Lab). Teams of five MBA candidates have each completed project work ranging from training government employees in Guatemala, to creating scale-up plans for social enterprise and distributing alternative energy technologies in Uganda, to market analysis for digitization services in Cambodia. Jessi Bellama '11 was the team leader of the Cambodia TEM Lab. She came to Thunderbird because it is a truly global school that focuses on responsible business. Watch her video.
Jessi's experience and the experiences of all TEM Lab participants make the program a crucial part of Thunderbird's 2020 Vision. TEM Lab is a direct response to the strategic priority of expanding our expertise in emerging markets. The cultural and professional experience that Thunderbird consultants receive while immersed full-time in a professional engagement in an emerging market is life altering. TEM Lab graduates are better prepared to be global leaders because they've been to the field, persevering through real challenges to implement business solutions.
TEM Lab is currently contracting with 2012 consulting clients and you can help! Alumni and their organizations, businesses and networks are a preferred source of TEM Lab projects. This global forum will draw hundreds of alumni and other top global leaders and executives from around the world for two days of leading-edge dialogue, collaboration, and networking around the theme of "Redefining Global Leadership."
Among the keynote speakers already lined up to share ideas and experiences is Thunderbird alumnus ('79) Robert W. Dudley, CEO of BP Group; Mark Penn, CEO Worldwide, Burson-Marsteller; and Craig R. Barrett, retired CEO and chairman of the board for Intel Corporation.
The Global Business Dialogue is being held in conjunction with Thunderbird's annual homecoming festivities Nov. 11-13 and the Grand Opening of the renovated Tower.

The new mobile application that puts the power of the world's No. 1 alumni network in the palm of your hand is now available to Android users, in addition to iPhone and iPad users. Global Giving competition reaches final week
The top three teams going into the final week of Thunderbird's global giving competition are:
- China and Hong Kong with 18.5 percent participation.
- United Kingdom with 16.8 percent participation.
- Northern Europe with 15.3 percent participation.
