February News Briefs

Not your mother's phonathon!
In an effort to find new ways to inspire giving, Thunderbird student ambassadors have created a rap video in T-bird style featuring multiple languages and cultures. The video, which includes scenes from the campus Pub, uses music by Dan Bos/Tunetronic.com. The project started when MBA student Bharath Balasubramanian told Thunderbird Assistant Director Annual Giving Keith C. Kerber about his passion for rap Indian music fusion. Kerber went to work with Balasubramian and other student ambassadors to create the video. Be sure to watch for cameo appearances by Thunderbird Professor Hassan Hosseini and Thunderbird President Ángel Cabrera. Watch the video...

Get ready for Super First Tuesday
On March 1st, 2011, alumni chapters around the world will be participating in Thunderbird's sixth annual Super First Tuesday. Super First Tuesday is a special event organized and promoted by Thunderbird's Recruiting Team and Alumni Relations. Last year, over 85 chapters participated and over 2,500 alumni and prospective students met in cities worldwide. We highly encourage you to attend these events. It's a great way to meet future T-birds. It's also a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with T-birds in your area. Specific information can be found on your city's chapter page on MTB, or http://www.thunderbird.edu/superfirsttuesday. Please contact Andy Chen or Katie Mayer if you would like to get involved with your chapter event.

New Google map features alumni chapters
Finding a Thunderbird Alumni Chapter is now easier than ever. Whether you're looking to attend a First Tuesday or to locate a chapter leader online, it's all just a click away on our new Google Map. Take a look at 168 T-bird alumni chapters that span the globe and click on a point to view chapter leaders and their e-mails for that location. The map will be updated regularly as chapter leadership changes and as new chapters form. Now you can access the number one global business school network whether you are moving to a new place, traveling for business or vacationing.

T-birds, we are looking for distinguished alumni!
Know any fellow alumni who stand out from the rest? We are looking for a person who is a budding star in a career as well as a person with a proven track record of success. If you know an exceptional T-bird graduate, nominate him or her today for our 2011 Distinguished Alumni awards! Go here to fill in the boxes and make your nomination. Join T-bird Alumni Rugby Association for upcoming events
Like to play rugby or even just watch? Come back to Thunderbird with the Thunderbird Alumni Rugby Association (TARA) or join them in Iceland for the Mjöður Old Boys Rugby Tour. Rugby Alumni Weekend (RAW) will kick off on March 3, 2011 and last until March 6. During this time, participants and guests will play golf, enjoy a night out at the Pub, catch a spring training ballgame, go skeet shooting and, of course, play rugby. This event is a great time to meet up with fellow T-bird alumni and enjoy some good old fashioned competition! The next event is the Mjöður Old Boys Rugby Tour, which will take place July 1-8, 2011. The weekend will consist of one to two matches against the Iceland club and another visiting club from Europe. On off days, the group will sight-see, hike, visit museums and just enjoy Iceland's volcanic hot springs and 20 hours of daylight. For inquiries regarding either event, or to be included on the Rugby Alumni e-newsletter, please contact Chuck Hamilton '91, president of the Thunderbird Alumni Rugby Association, at chuck.notlimah@gmail.com.

Help current students help YOU - Hire an intern!
Do you remember back when you were attending Thunderbird how nice it was, or would have been, to have a recent or even longtime graduate reach out their hand and help you get a foot in the door? Would you also like to increase student awareness of your organization? As alumni of the best global business school in the world, you have a unique opportunity to help current students launch their careers, to increase Thunderbird's representation in the global workforce, and to get your organization's name and mission on the minds of current students and faculty.

Consider suggesting a spring campus visit to your HR or recruiting office. It's a wonderful time of year here in Arizona! Company information sessions, club events and functional days are just some of the ways you can interact with students and not only give them opportunities within your organization, but also create awareness for your organization among the future leaders of the business world. Contact employer.relations@thunderbird.edu to schedule something now!
**We recognize that in the current economy, it may not be cost-effective to fly to campus for only a day or two and are more than happy to accommodate your presentation via technology.**
