Alumni Giving Participation increases 50%
On July 1, the Advancement Office processed the 4,499th T-bird donation that arrived during our fiscal year (7/1/09 - 6/30/10). This means that 15.1% of Thunderbird alumni made a contribution to Thunderbird and it represents a 50 percent increase over last year's giving participation. Thank you to all T-birds who gave back this year.
In addition to our typical efforts, we included a social media campaign to spread the word that we needed just 750 gifts with six weeks to go in the fiscal year to reach 15 percent giving. Utilizing LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter we saw 459 gifts arrive in the final two weeks! The assistance of many T-birds and chapter leaders posting the campaign info on their own social media profiles and pages contributed greatly to our success. Thank you again T-birds.
Your giving is not taken for granted. It inspires staff* and faculty to know that 4,499 of its graduates feel good about their experience here and wish to ensure that others can have a similar experience. Strong giving participation signifies a healthy community that supports Thunderbird's mission and the value it provides around the globe. It also serves as a signal to foundations and corporations that their multimillion dollar grant will likely be a good investment. In this way, each and every gift no matter the size counts toward even bigger possibilities.
In the years ahead we will make every effort to inspire more alumni annual giving. We would like to see our participation rate reach 30 percent or higher, a rate more in line with a B-school of our rank. We're always open to hear your ideas! (alumni@thunderbird.edu)
