Founder's Day celebrated on campus

Faculty, staff, students and other community members gathered at
Thunderbird's annual Founder's Day celebration proposed April 16 from 4 - 5:30 p.m. The Pavilion was transformed to reflect the layout of the new Thunderbird tower. Festivities included a short presentation on the tower project and Campaign Thunderbird. The Thunderbird Insider was on hand asking people, what is it about Thunderbird’s history and legacy that you’re most proud of?

Praveen Nagarajan“The diversity at Thunderbird is amazing. Fifty percent of the student population is international. Top colleges may talk about diversity, but they don’t practice it.”
Praveen Nagarajan ’08

Chris Muniz“I think that ever since Thunderbird’s inception back when we were an Air training base, Thunderbird has always been focused on how do we help the world in general, not just a specific country. How can we make a bigger impact on this planet?”
Chris Muniz ’08

Dr. Angel Cabrera“(I am most proud of) how the founders got it right 62 years ago, and how far and deep their vision was at a time when pretty much everyone thought they had lost their minds. Now it makes sense to all of us, but back then it was just a small group of visionaries.”
Dr. Angel Cabrera

Gabriela Perez“I think the fact that we’re international. When you come here, you experience the different cultures and countries from around the world. This is something that was part of our history, our present, and hopefully will be part of our future, too.”
Gabriela Perez ’09

John Henrickson“All the students are unique, and they are all driven to a different kind of career path. That is so interesting to me. These are young adults who really have passion for going out and making something different in the world.”
John Henrickson, Thunderbird Trustee and Chair of the Thunderbird Global Council
