Walker Center adds Managing Director to staff
The Walker Center for Global Entrepreneurship recently named Katherine Hutton managing director. In this position she is responsible for strategic planning and overseeing the center’s non academic efforts including the Sustainable Innovation Summit, Global Family Enterprise, Incubator, and other programs.
Hutton has worked with entrepreneurs, large and small businesses, government agencies and officials, and nonprofit organizations for the last 20 years. She comes to Thunderbird from a successful career as the economic development director for the city of Scottsdale, where she was responsible for business recruitment, corporate retention and bioscience market development. She acted as the city’s representative to Arizona State University’s SkySong Center for Innovation.
Previously Hutton worked for the city of Mesa, Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, the state of Arizona and the Tucson Economic Development Corporation. She received her MBA from Arizona State University and her bachelor of science from the University of Arizona. She holds Certified Economic Developer status from the International Economic Development Council and was awarded Economic Developer of the Year for Arizona in 2006.
Hutton is involved in a variety of professional and civic organizations and has a strong network of contacts in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. She is in office No. 112 in Section B of the Voris Building and can be reached at 602-978-7173 or via e-mail.
