Is your organization interested in attracting motivated candidates dedicated to Human Resources careers? Consider partnering with Thunderbird's Global Human Resource Management Association students.

Global Human Resource Management Association

Mission and Purpose

As a student-led organization, the Global Human Resource Management Association (GHRMA) is dedicated to promoting the fields of Human Resources and Organizational Development within the Thunderbird community through awareness-building events.

As an affiliated chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), our mission is to become the premier professional club at Thunderbird by educating students and providing our members with opportunities to explore and develop their careers in Human Resources and Organizational Development.

Opportunities for employers to get involved with GHRMA

Employers and recruiters are encouraged to partner with the GHRMA through these and other activities to increase brand awareness. Contact us through the information provided at the bottom of this page to get involved.

  • Speakers
Companies are invited to speak on campus to promote their organizations' initiatives, speak about current company or industry HR practices and trends, or provide real-world functional expertise in a student skill-building workshop. Speakers receive campus-wide promotion and are welcomed by students eager to hear more about firms, industry trends and current opportunities. Prior to and following speaking events, speakers have the opportunity to network with students on an informal basis.
  • Company visits
GHRMA partners with companies for Job Shadow Day to introduce students to the HR/OD fields and their impact on business as strategic business partners. Job Shadow Day provides a learning experience for students and serves as a great networking vehicle for both students and companies. Through these visits, organizations can learn about Thunderbird, the #1 ranked school in international business, and promote their company in a unique way to potential candidates and the larger Thunderbird community.
  • Company information sessions
GHRMA is always interested in learning more about companies’ HR operations. Company information sessions give students the opportunity to learn about the organization and HR/OD career paths. In turn, these information sessions allow firms to meet motivated students and build strong brand awareness with Thunderbird.

Opportunities for students

Students: Get involved with the GHRMA through one of these on- or off-campus activities:

  • Job Shadow Day
GHRMA teams up with a local company to host a group of students interested in learning about the firm’s human resource practices and projects. During the visit, students learn about the company and industry while gaining an understanding of the integral part human resources plays in driving the bottom line of the business. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to network with HR/OD professionals and get insight in this exciting field.
  • Communications labs
The GHRMA leadership team conducts and leads experiential exercises to build and strengthen interpersonal skills such as assertive communication, conflict and stress management, and diversity awareness. These labs are held once a trimester and are open to students, faculty and staff in the Thunderbird community.
  • Campus speakers
Students regularly build relationships with corporate contacts and bring them to Thunderbird as campus speakers, often in collaboration with faculty, alumni or the CMC.
  • Interview prep
The GHRMA plans to launch a series of interview preparation sessions to help members in the career search. The interview prep sessions will focus on behavioral and case questions, and will give students the opportunity to become more comfortable in tackling tough questions. Faculty members and current students will be called upon to provide interview lessons and practice sessions.
  • On-campus social networking opportunities
The GHRMA hosts opportunities for club members to get together, socialize, network and share job-search strategies.
  • Off-campus networking opportunities
As an affiliated chapter of SHRM, GHRMA members attend professional networking events hosted by local human resource association chapters. Students take part in presentations and build relationship with fellow HR professionals.
  • Internship/Job panels
GHRMA invites students and alumni to speak to the club about their internship or work experience in the human resource management/organizational development field. Members of the association are given the opportunity to engage in open conversation with the panel concerning job requirements, projects and expectations.
  • Professional development events
GHRMA hosts and sponsors professional development events throughout the school year for the entire Thunderbird community.
