The Journal of Private Equity is a quarterly academic journal covering strategies and techniques in venture capital investing, from seed capital and early stage investing, to mezzanine investing and later stage financing. The editor in chief is F. John Mathis, Thunderbird Professor of International Finance.
The first issue of the Journal, under Thunderbird's editorship, features articles from Dr. Mathis and Dr. Gary Gibbons, Academic Director for TPEC and Heather STONE of Edwards Wildman Palmer and a member of Tpec's advisory board.
New Academic Director Announced for the Thunderbird Global Private Equity Center
The Thunderbird Global Private Equity Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Gary Gibbons as the new Academic Director. Dr. Gibbons will lead the Center's academic research initiatives as well as the development of the private equity & venture capital curriculum.
A visiting professor in the Walker Center, Dr. Gibbons received his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Claremont Graduate School - The Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management. He holds an MS from California State University, a BS from the University of Arizona and is a Principal, Senior Analyst, and Portfolio Manager with the Coleridge Group in Phoenix.
Thunderbird's student Private Equity/Venture Capital (PEVC) Club recently finished in second place at the Venture Capital Investment Competition, beating out Santa Clara, University of Arizona, San Diego State, and UCLA at the Regional West Competition hosted by University of Southern California. The Thunderbird team consisted of current T-birds Robert Jansen, Christian Lorentzen, John Wilson, Matt Herricks, and Arun Kumar.
