Bronwyn Dylla Bailey has been conducting research and analytics for business engagements and academic studies for more than 15 years. Prior to joining the PEGCC, she led an analytics team at BlackRock to optimize distribution strategy and promote asset growth of iShares ETF products. She was formerly the research director at SVB Capital, the private equity division of SVB Financial Group. Here, she implemented a research agenda to assess financial market dynamics, guide strategic decisions and benchmark performance of a $1B portfolio. She also advised the Institutional Limited Partners Association as an external consultant on developing benchmarks measuring private equity performance.
Prior to SVB, Bailey conducted financial and economic analysis in support of intellectual property, antitrust and other commercial litigation at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Bailey also directed economic consulting engagements at InteCap in Los Angeles and advised telecommunications and media clients as a strategy consultant for Capgemini in London. She has authored numerous publications, such as SVB’s quarterly Venture Capital Update, a chapter on entertainment finance for a leading financial reference book and academic papers.
Bailey graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a bachelor's degree in government and international relations. She earned a master's degree and a doctorate in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles, where her research examined the economic impact of the European Union’s competition policy.
Dr. Craig Barrett is a leading advocate for improving education in the U.S. and around the world. He is also a vocal spokesman for the value technology can provide in raising social and economic standards globally. In 2009, he stepped down as Chairman of the Board of Intel Corporation, a post he held from May 2005 to May 2009.
Craig Barrett was born in San Francisco, California. He attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, California from 1957 to 1964, receiving Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science. After graduation, he joined the faculty of Stanford University in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and remained through 1974, rising to the rank of Associate Professor. Dr. Barrett was a Fulbright Fellow at Danish Technical University in Denmark in 1972 and a NATO Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Physical Laboratory in England from 1964 to 1965. He is the author of over 40 technical papers dealing with the influence of microstructure on the properties of materials, and a textbook on materials science, Principles of Engineering Materials.
Dr. Barrett joined Intel Corporation in 1974 and held positions of vice president, senior vice president and executive vice president from 1984 to 1990. In 1992, he was elected to Intel Corporation's Board of Directors and was promoted to chief operating officer in 1993. Dr. Barrett became Intel's fourth president in 1997, chief executive officer in 1998 and chairman of the Board in 2005.
Dr. Barrett served until June 2009 as Chairman of the United Nations Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies and Development, which works to bring computers and other technology to developing parts of the world. He chairs Change The Equation, a national education science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) coalition, Achieve, Inc. and Dossia, co-chairs the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Advisory Board, and vice chairs Science Foundation Arizona and the National Forest Foundation. Dr. Barrett is chairman of the Governor’s Arizona Ready Education Council, president and chairman of BASIS School, Inc., and a member of the Board of Directors of K12 Inc., Society for Science and the Public, Arizona Commerce Authority Board, and Grameen Intel Social Business. He was appointed by the President of the Russian Federation as International co-chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation Council and serves on the Council for Foreign Relations Task Force on U.S. Education Reform and National Security, the advisory board of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, the faculty of Thunderbird School of Global Management, and is Chairman of the Irish Technology Leadership Group. Dr. Barrett has served on numerous boards, policy and government panels, and has been an appointee of the President's Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations and the American Health Information Community. He has co-chaired the Business Coalition for Student Achievement and the National Innovation Initiative Leadership Council, and has served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the U.S. Council for International Business and the Clinton Global Initiative Education Advisory Board. Dr. Barrett has been a member of the National Governors' Association Task Force on Innovation America, the National Infrastructure Advisory Council, the Committee on Scientific Communication and National Security, the U.S.-Brazil CEO Forum, past chair of the National Academy of Engineering, and formerly served on the Board of Directors of the U.S. Semiconductor Industry Association, the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, and TechNet.
Jennifer Choi manages EMPEA’s member and industry engagement initiatives. Jennifer runs the association's regional Member Councils, and works with EMPEA's Legal and Regulatory Council to encourage policy frameworks that support the growth of the asset class. A frequent speaker and commentator on the industry, Jennifer also oversees the association's communications with the media and non-industry audiences, as well as EMPEA's institutional partnerships and global collaboration efforts.
As EMPEA’s first research director from 2006 to 2011, Jennifer built EMPEA's content portfolio, including the EMPEA Insights and Private Equity Impact Case Studies series, and led the creation of the industry's first global database of private equity activity in emerging markets. Prior to EMPEA, Jennifer was a consultant with Boston-based Stax Inc., leading due diligence engagements and providing advisory services and portfolio company strategic planning support for the private equity industry. Jennifer’s previous experience includes organizational development and strategy consulting for clients in the healthcare, financial services and pharmaceutical sectors.
Jennifer holds a Masters in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and a B.A. summa cum laude in Economics and Political Science from Augustana College.
With nineteen years of experience in private equity, Mr. Grady joined Cheyenne Capital in 2009. He is based in Jackson, Wyoming.
Prior to joining Cheyenne Capital, Mr. Grady was a Partner and member of the Management Committee at The Carlyle Group for nine years. At Carlyle, he served as the global coordinator of venture and growth capital (which had $5 billion in assets under management), Chairman and Fund Head of Carlyle Venture Partners I, II, and III; on the investment committees of Carlyle Venture Partners, Carlyle Asia Growth Partners, and Carlyle Europe Technology Partners; and as a Director of multiple Carlyle portfolio companies.
Mr. Grady also served as a Director and was Chairman in 2006-2007 of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA).
Previously, Mr. Grady was a Managing Director and Member of the Management Committee at Robertson Stephens & Company, the San-Francisco-based emerging growth investment bank, for seven years. Mr. Grady served in the White House from 1989-1993 as Deputy Assistant to President George H.W. Bush and as Executive Associate Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Previously, he was Director of Communications for New Jersey Governor Thomas H. Kean and Chief of Staff for U.S. Representative Millicent Fenwick.
Mr. Grady is a Director of Maxim Integrated Products (Nasdaq: "MXIM") and Stifel Financial (NYSE: "SF"), and privately-held companies eScreen (instant drug testing), Viator (online travel), Symbio LLC (China-based software development and testing), Eleutian Technology (online English training), and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (resort operations, retail and lodging).
Mr. Grady also serves as Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors for New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and as Chairman of the New Jersey State Investment Council, which oversees the state's $73 billion pension system.
Mr. Grady is a former Director of public companies Blackboard (Nasdaq: "BBBB") and AuthenTec (Nasdaq: "AUTH"), and many privately-held companies.
Mr. Grady received an A.B. from Harvard College, and a M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he later served on the faculty from 1993-2004 as a Lecturer in Public Management.
Jay Koh is the Head of Investment Funds and the Chief Investment Strategist for OPIC. Leading the Investment Funds Department, which provides support for private equity investment into emerging markets, Mr. Koh oversees 33 active funds with over $2.3 billion in commitments, with an additional $1.5 billion approved to 19 funds. As Chief Investment Strategist, Mr. Koh guides development of new products and strategic relationships for OPIC. Mr. Koh also served at OPIC’s Chief Financial Officer from 2010-2011.
Prior to joining OPIC, Mr. Koh invested in private equity and growth equity, both in the United States and internationally. Most recently, he led private equity and illiquid investing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) as a Partner and the Head of EMEA Private Equity at R3 Capital, a global multi-strategy hedge fund; and was a Managing Director and the Head of EMEA Private Investment for the Global Principal Strategies Division of Lehman Brothers.
Previously, Mr. Koh focused on growth investing with a particular emphasis on telecommunications and security as a Principal at The Carlyle Group in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, where he worked for nine years. Mr. Koh also served as a law clerk to Justice David H. Souter on the United States Supreme Court and to Judge Michael Boudin on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Mr. Koh earned a J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was a Notes Editor on the Yale Law Journal and an Articles Editor on the Yale Journal of International Law. Mr. Koh also read a Masters in Management from Oxford University, focusing on international management. He received an A.B. in Economics magna cum laude from Harvard College and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
For more than two decades, Trevor Loy has been an entrepreneur and investor in innovation-based companies. He is the founder of Flywheel Ventures, where as a General Partner he currently oversees investments in Aravo Solutions; Astria Semiconductor Holdings, Inc. (parent company of subsidiaries MicroProbe and Micromanipulator); Jive Software; Yapstone (parent company of subsidiary RentPayment.com); Trackvia; Tuscany Design Automation; and Txteagle. Trevor also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Venture Capital Association. He has testified to the U.S. Congress on multiple occasions as a representative of the American venture capital industry.
Passionate about finding and growing innovation-based companies by “fishing where everyone else isn’t,” Trevor left a successful entrepreneurial career in Silicon Valley to launch Flywheel Ventures over a decade ago. Since then, Flywheel has invested in over 30 companies across the USA, from Carson City to Cincinnati and Albuquerque to Missoula. Over two-thirds of these companies emerged from leading universities, national laboratories, and corporate R&D centers.
Trevor’s current investment interest is in entrepreneurial companies with solutions to global challenges arising from the unprecedented worldwide acceleration of digital connectivity and physical urbanization. Specific targets include mobile/SaaS applications, cloud computing infrastructure, and semiconductors as well as advanced materials for water infrastructure, energy efficiency, building and lighting materials, and transportation infrastructure.
Prior to Flywheel, Trevor was a leader at a series of technology companies, including Gigabeat (acquired by Napster); Brooktree (acquired by Rockwell) ParkingNet; Intel Corporation and Teradyne. He won the worldwide Intel Quality Award in 1993 for his redesign of semiconductor failure analysis equipment. Trevor has also been a pioneer in entrepreneurship education. He helped build the Stanford Technology Ventures Program at Stanford’s School of Engineering and has been an invited lecturer on entrepreneurship at leading universities around the world such as the University of Edinburgh, London Business School, and Tsinghua University in China.
Trevor holds a BS Electrical Engineering, MS Electrical Engineering, and MS Management Science & Engineering, all from Standford University. He also studied at the Stanford Center for Technology& Innovation in Kyoto, Japan and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Mark O’Hare is Founder and Chief Executive of Preqin, the alternative assets information service. Preqin provides extensive research and data on the entire global alternative assets industry, covering private equity, private real estate, infrastructure and hedge funds. Preqin is an independent business with 85 staff based in London, New York and Singapore, providing market-leading online and hard copy data services to many of the world’s leading institutional investors, money managers and advisors. Preqin’s online databases are used by over 5,000 customers in 72 countries worldwide. In addition, over 50,000 industry professionals receive Preqin’s newsletters and research reports every month. Preqin tracks fund returns, fund raising information, fund terms and conditions, profiles of the GPs running the funds, and the LPs investing in them. Preqin’s databases also cover buyout and infrastructure deals globally. Before Preqin, Mark’s initial career was as a Manager with Boston Consulting Group, where he advised clients in Europe, the US and Africa, across several industries including financial services, healthcare, retail, industrial and consumer products. Following BCG he founded Goodall Alexander O’Hare & Co, an independent strategy consulting firm. In 1993 he founded Citywatch, the UK’s leading shareholder information service, which was acquired by Reuters in 1998, and now provides a global service on the ownership of listed equities. Mark studied Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at Cambridge University, where he graduated with First Class Honours and was awarded the Stokes Prize. He represented his college 1st VIII in rowing. Subsequent to this he studied Finance at London Business School.
Richard Rémillard is Executive-Director of Canada's Venture Capital and Private Equity Association(CVCA), a post he has held since November 2003. He has also been President of R C G, a management consulting firm active in the financial services industry,a Vice-President with the Canadian Bankers Association, a special assistant to the Minister of Finance and a public affairs manager with Bank of Montreal. Richard sits on several boards, has taught at Concordia University and is a graduate of McGill University and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
