As the leader of Thunderbird’s Career Management Center, Guy Groff oversees academic advising and helps students prepare for global careers. He also provides professional development services for Thunderbird alumni.
Guy R. Groff began his career in 1972 in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1994 as the Director of Career Planning for the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing in Okinawa, Japan. During his tenure in the Corps he lived in Japan and traveled throughout Asia for over 12 of his 22 years.
After he retired from the Marine Corps, Mr. Groff managed the military’s Transition Assistance Program in Japan from 1994 to 1997. Transition Assistance is a program created to provide separating servicemen and women with career education to successfully transition into civilian careers.
For the past 14 years he has been working with MBA and Graduate Business students and successfully designed and developed Career Management Centers at both Wake Forest University’s Schools of Business and Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business.
Mr. Groff has a Master of Education degree from the University of Maryland with concentration in Counseling and Personnel Services, this Degree Program that has been ranked number one by U.S. News for the past 10 years. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a split minor in both Asian Studies and Psychology also from the University of Maryland.
Mr. Groff is a Professional Recruiter, Certified Career Coach, Certified Guidance Counselor, and Professional Facilitator. Guy’s work is his life, and he always finds time for anyone in need of support, information, or assistance.
Mr. Groff is the father of three grown children and grandfather to six grandchildren.
