Thunderbird for Good was launched in 2005 with Thunderbird for Good’s flagship program, Project Artemis, Afghanistan. Project Artemis is a unique business skills training program that aims to build the entrepreneurial skills of promising Afghan businesswomen. Thunderbird for Good also works to coordinate the 10,000 Women Program in Kabul, sponsored by Goldman Sachs, in partnership with the American University of Afghanistan.

Project Artemis - Afghanistan
Project Artemis has graduated 44 women entrepreneurs in three sessions of Project Artemis in 2005, 2006, and 2008. Included in the project are two weeks of business and entrepreneurial decision-making training; mentorship by American women entrepreneurs; site visits to U.S. businesses; and follow-up support and business coaching online.

10,000 Women Program, Afghanistan
The American University of Afghanistan (AUAF), in partnership with Thunderbird School of Global Management, is administering a business training and support program for Afghan women in Kabul, Afghanistan sponsored by Goldman Sachs. Since its inception in 2008, 54 women have graduated from this program, which features curriculum developed by faculty at Thunderbird, in collaboration with instructors at the AUAF.
