To survive in today’s business environment, basic project management skills aren’t enough. Global project leadership takes strategy, team management, cross-cultural awareness and business acumen.
With this in mind, Thunderbird School of Global Management is hosting an open-enrollment program, “Leading Global Projects for Strategic Results,” May 11-13 in Geneva. The program will help project managers develop the tools and techniques necessary to succeed as a project leader. The program is offered through Thunderbird Corporate Learning, the executive education branch of the school.
“To thrive in a project-based world, leaders need to excel at a set of skills that reside at the intersection of strategic project management, project leadership and cross-cultural effectiveness,” said Bill Youngdahl, Ph.D., Thunderbird associate professor of Project and Operations Management and co-academic director of the program. “This is a hands-on program that focuses on the softer skills needed to lead in a project-based world. Leading Global Projects for Strategic Results is ideally suited for ‘accidental project leaders’ who have recently taken on significant project or initiative responsibilities.”
During the three-day program, students will learn best practices in all aspects of strategic and tactical project management and leadership, cross-cultural communication and influencing, stakeholder analysis and management, influencing without authority and risk management by participating in discussions and hands-on exercises and exploring relevant case studies.
The program is taught by Youngdahl and Thunderbird Professor Robert Moran, Ph.D., co-authors of “Leading Global Projects: For Professional and Accidental Project Leaders.” Youngdahl and Moran have worked with more than 1,000 project leaders from global companies worldwide.
The program is held at Hotel Epsom. The fee for the program is 4,500 CHF, which includes tuition, instruction materials and meals for the program. The program does not include accommodations.
