Thunderbird offers program to help business leaders navigate the economic crisis

In an effort to help business leaders navigate the economic crisis, Thunderbird School of Global Management is offering Leading and Managing in Turbulent Times: Global Leadership Certificate Program. The program is offered through Thunderbird Corporate Learning, the executive education branch of the school. It gives nondegree-seeking students an opportunity to attend classes one evening per week for 12 weeks beginning March 14 or to attend a three-day immersion program May 12-14.

The program will guide global leaders in understanding what elements of management have changed during these tough economic times. This interactive program will be a comprehensive crash course on how businesses and managers get through the economic crisis.

“Global managers everywhere are asking themselves during these turbulent times what they should do differently in business,” says Caren Siehl, academic director of the program and clinical professor of management at Thunderbird. “This program allows managers to learn about what aspects have remained the same and where they need to shift their focus.”

The program, taught by Thunderbird faculty who have extensive firsthand experience working with global managers, will help students broaden their understanding of global business issues that are transforming the international landscape. The program will arm students with useful decision-making tools for increased job performance and build more effective cross-cultural relationships by giving them insights into how the economic crisis is affecting different cultures, regions and markets.

The program will also take topics such as corporate social responsibility, international marketing, organizational culture and financial management and relate them to the economic crisis.

The 12-week program is held at the Hilton Suites Phoenix, except for the opening and closing sessions, which will be held at Thunderbird’s campus in Glendale. The fee for the 12-week program is $3,200 and includes tuition, meals and instruction materials. The three-day immersion program will be on Thunderbird’s Glendale campus, and the cost is $3,700, which includes tuition, meals and instruction materials for the program.

Registration information can be found at www.thunderbird.edu/glcp. Registration deadline is March 6 for the 12-week program and May 1 for the three-day immersion program.
