Getting Started
We are now accepting applications for our Fall 2012 cohort. Thunderbird's Executive MBA application is online, and selection works on a rolling admissions basis.

How to apply - deadlines, online forms and interview schedules

To apply to Thunderbird's Executive MBA program, begin the process by creating an application account and uploading your resume or CV as you begin to work on your essays. Once these components are complete you can submit the electronic application to us.

The GMAT is NOT requried for admission to the Executive MBA. Rather, the school uses an interview process to assess candidates' career progress, leadership potential, and overall ability for success in the program.

After submitting the online application, and as supporting documents are finalized, qualified applicants will be invited to schedule three or more phone interviews with staff and faculty. Face-to-face interviews in are encouraged and can be arranged on a request basis (see below). Candidates are typically notified of their admissions decision in writing soon after all interview evaluations have been reviewed by the admissions committee.

The following documents are needed for a complete application:

  1. The completed online application, including:
    • Personal information form
    • Employment history form
    • Educational/professional history form
    • Organizational sponsorship form
    • Two essays
    • Applicant’s agreement form
  2. Two or more evaluation forms (submitted via the online system)
  3. One copy of official transcript from all colleges or universities you attended.
  4. English language scores where applicable.
  5. A non-refundable $125 application fee.

Deadlines & Procedures

Space is limited in the Executive MBA-US program and admissions will be granted on a rolling basis; therefore, candidates are encouraged to begin the application right away and reach out to Thunderbird staff to keep us informed of your progress.

Application Essays

The following two essays will be required of you in the application process. You will submit your application electronically, once these essays are completed. Each essay should be approximately one page (500 words) in length.

  • Essay #1
Why do you want to pursue an MBA in Global Management at this stage in your career? How will this education enable you to make a positive impact on those who follow you?
  • Essay #2
What current business leader or political figure do you most respect and why? How are you working to emulate their leadership qualities in your work and life?

Interviews

A minimum of four interviews are required for admission. Once your application file is complete (when the online application is submitted and required supporting documents are received), Executive MBA staff will reach out to you to set up convenient appointment times for your in-person or phone admissions interviews with staff and professors.

Deposit

A deposit is required to secure a space in the class and will be applied toward your first tuition payment. Admitted students are given ample time to discuss the opportunity with family and employers before making the final commitment to join the program, and may avail themselves of alumni and staff support in the discernment process.
