Curriculum and Program Format

The Executive MBA-Europe program awards an MBA in Global Management from Thunderbird…the same acclaimed and accredited MBA that is offered from campus in Arizona. Course content parallels the topics covered in the Executive MBA in Arizona, but in a modular format from Geneva, where professors and participants converge for the majority of engagements. The program’s calendar brings participants together on average about every 6-8 weeks over 19 months.

Thunderbird’s curriculum provides a repertoire of courses to exposure managers across the management spectrum, with all topics presented through a global lens. While all courses are taught in English language, Thunderbird’s philosophy and tradition for educating globally-minded leaders requires all participants to fulfill language requirements (often not necessary for non-native English speakers, for whom English is already their second, or third… language).

The program provides global experience during international field seminars, and by cross-cohort learning engagements with Thunderbird’s Executive MBA-Arizona cohort. The two cohorts visit each other for one module, share field seminars abroad, and conduct an online course together. During international field seminars (students choose between options), courses include company visits, guest lectures and cultural programs to better understand the trends and implications of doing business in these locations.

The program also includes a Personal Leadership Development Program which engages participants in self-assessment, feedback and goal-setting at various stages (beginning, middle and end) during the degree. Many EMBA participants plan to stay with their current employers during the program, and this creates a framework for creating targets and milestones for your career within your company or industry. Others pursue the Executive MBA with a career transition in mind, and this program facilitates the exploration and transition process.
