1. What is Global MBA for Latin American Managers?

Answer. The Global MBA for Latin American Managers is a graduate degree program offered by Thunderbird School of Global Management and Tecnológico de Monterrey. The Global MBA program is designed to prepare Latin American Managers for success in the highly competitive and dynamic global business environment. Global MBA students utilize an educational environment that facilitates virtual learning. Through the executive format of the Global MBA, students are finding they can have it all — a career, a family and a world-class masters degree. Students graduating from the Global MBA program will be awarded a joint degree signed by both Thunderbird and Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Answer. Tecnológico de Monterrey is Mexico's best-known and most prestigious business school. Tecnológico de Monterrey was founded over 60 years ago and has over 20 years of distance education delivery experience.

4. How are classes conducted?

Answer. Global MBA program professors teach live via satellite from Phoenix and Monterrey. Students meet at various receiving sites to take classes, where they are joined by facilitators. Students also do research and group work and meet with their professors online through specialized Internet or intranet portals. Students begin and conclude their program with on-site week long seminars.

5. Who teaches the program?

Answer. Thunderbird and Tecnológico de Monterrey have recruited their best faculty for the Global MBA program. Each member of the Global MBA faculty has a doctorate degree and significant levels of functional and multinational expertise in the areas in which they teach.

6. Who should apply?

Answer. The Global MBA for Latin American Managers is designed for high potential individuals who want an outstanding international business education, but who cannot study abroad because of current job and family obligations. The program is best suited for people at the manager or director level who have undergraduate degrees in business, engineering and the social sciences.

7. How long is the program?

Answer.The Global MBA for Latin American Managers is a 22-month program. The degree involves 43.5 credit hours of study delivered in 8 credit hour segments per term. A new Global MBA for Latin American Managers class begins each August.

8. What is included in the Global MBA for Latin American Managers curriculum?

Answer. Global MBA courses cover basic and advanced global business topics, cross-cultural negotiation and communications, and a wide variety of Latin America-focused international issues. It is a lock-step curriculum, which means that students progress together through the program, taking courses in a prescribed sequence. Should a student need to withdraw from a class for whatever reason, he or she will have to resume their studies with the next year's class.

9. When are classes held?

Answer. Classes are held every other Friday afternoon and Saturday. Discussion groups and other asynchronous interaction also occur throughout the semester from the student's home or office.

10. Are classes taught in English or Spanish?

Answer. Effective global managers must speak fluent English. Therefore the Global MBA for Latin American Managers program is taught in English. Applicants must achieve a minimum TOEFL score of 550 to be admitted to the program. They will then polish their English language skills with a course in Management Communications.

11. What is the cost of the program?

Answer. The program investment covers course tuition (22 courses); all books, cases and course materials; two on-site seminars (room, meals and activities; airfare not included); one trip to an Interim Seminar on location (additional fees may apply depending on destination chosen; airfare not included); and graduation regalia attire. This investment does not include the student's personal Internet connection, computer, and software costs. Please see your local campus coordinator for current cost of the program.
