Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Gautam Goenka wanted to continue advancing his business skills by getting a Master’s degree from a top business school. However, he needed the flexibility to complete his degree while continuing to work at his excellent job. Even with more than 12 years of professional experience that ran the gamut from fruit to oil to interest rates - and her fair share of global business exposure - Lisa Causarano '09 says she wanted to further broaden the scope of her professional career into the international arena. Niki Post '09 began to connect to the world when she was just seven, writing to pen pals in the Philippines and Canada. Her interest in other cultures was so great that, by the third grade, she was enrolled in a voluntary after-school Spanish language program. As she grew, her interest in all things global grew as well - landing her in the IUKD/Thunderbird dual-degree program where she pursued her passion academically with outstanding success.

Born in Taiwan and raised in the San Francisco Bay area, Patrick Chang was exposed to places like Johannesburg, South Africa, and Frankfurt, Germany, through his father’s international assignments as an airline executive. His passion for all things international grew with him into adulthood, both on a professional and personal level, and that passion only increased after earning his Thunderbird/IU dual degrees.

Larina Riley '08 knows how to turn lemons into lemonade. When long-time employer General Electric Co. sold her business unit – with the contingency that employees must seek jobs outside of GE for a period of time – Riley, still pursuing her Thunderbird/IUKD dual degree at the time, decided to put her emerging MBA skills to the test. That leap of faith landed her in a consulting role with BearingPoint Inc. in D.C..
