Why is transformational leadership so critical to the healthcare industry?

Healthcare provider organizations – hospitals, clinics and delivery systems – are among the most complex operating companies in the world, delivering an intimate and intricate service to patients in a marketplace driven by competition, convenience and quality. 

Across the globe, most issues facing today’s healthcare provider organizations cannot be solved from a single clinical perspective. In fact, all relevant issues – from improving quality and leading healthcare professional teams to redesigning your healthcare delivery system in response to patient need or local healthcare reform – require transformational leadership.

Curriculum & Program Approach

The Transformational Healthcare Leadership program fills the gap between technical expertise and management competency to prepare you to lead your organization with a keen focus on collaboration, cooperation, cultural sensitivity, continuous quality improvement and change-management.

Through multi-media lectures, group work and individual self-assessment activities, you will: 

  • Be exposed to the latest research on transformational leaders and how to apply this knowledge to yourself and your organization 
  • Engage immediately in activities that cultivate emotional intelligence and self-inquiry
  • Experience practical, interactive and applicable lessons in management tools for healthcare leaders managing budgets, people and change
  • Work on a self-selected leadership/management problem as your capstone project

Pre-work and evening work: Prior to attending, you will be asked to complete a leadership self-assessment and identify a current leadership/management challenge in your organization for your capstone project. Approximately two hours per evening will be needed to prepare for the following day’s classroom work.

Program fee includes tuition, instructional and assessment materials, and meals for the program. Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

2.0 CEUs

CEUs provide a permanent record of the professional development training and non-credit enhancement activities of working executives who wish to stay current in global business. One CEU is equivalent to 10 contact hours of time spent at a qualified instruction site. Participants who complete this program earn 2.0 CEUs.
