Nursing Leadership and Management: Core Capabilities
Facilitator: Sally S. Cohen, Director, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nursing and Health Policy Collaborative at the University of New Mexico 
Across the globe and for a  variety of reasons, nurses are being asked to assume greater clinical, management and  leadership responsibilities – requiring them to develop new leadership and management capabilities. At Yale School of Nursing, Dr. Cohen pioneered a master’s degree for working nurses in nursing management, policy & leadership. Today, her responsibilities include manpower development among nurses working across rural New Mexico. This workshop gives you the opportunity to learn how broad policy initiatives are translated into practical, training programs that lead to enhanced clinical, leadership and management capability. 

Practical Project Management for Healthcare Leaders
Facilitators:
Ms. Margaret Ball &  Dr. Chet Smith, Principals, HealthLinks International
Healthcare leaders are faced with leading complex and extensive initiatives. These projects include certification initiatives such as JCI, quality improvement, cost reduction, outcome improvement, and more. Leaders are challenged with bringing together teams and the right tools to achieve their goals. This workshop will expose you to practical project management tools that can be applied across a range of initiatives. In addition, learn about specific approaches to motivating teams and building consensus for project success. 

The Practical Realities of Global Manpower Recruitment
Facilitator: Saul Kornik, Chief, Africa Health Placements (AHP)
A social profit organization, AHP is working to alleviate the severe shortages of health professionals in the most disenfranchised communities in southern Africa. Under Mr. Kornik’s leadership, and in five short years, AHP has become a major player in healthcare human resources in the region, working closely with governments, civil society and private sector. To date, AHP has successfully placed over 2,000 health workers from across the globe into the Southern African region. In this workshop, learn creative, practical approaches to recruitment and placement that are building bridges across a global workforce.  

From an Outpatient Clinic to a Full-service Multi-specialty Hospital in a Resource-constrained Environment 
Facilitator: Akeza Teame, MD, Internist and Founder, St. Yared General Hospital
While completing his internal medicine and infectious disease training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Teame took the first step of realizing his childhood dream of bringing quality healthcare to his native country, Ethiopia. In 2005, St. Yared Higher Clinic opened its doors to residents of Addis Ababa. From those humble beginnings Dr. Teame and his partners have evolved their clinic into Saint Yared General Hospital, one of a few healthcare facilities that meets international quality standards. Participants in this workshop will learn about the practical leadership required to deliver care in a resource-constrained environment.
