Dr. Cabrera is the former dean of the Instituto de Empresa, one of Europe's leading business schools, and in 2004 was showcased by BusinessWeek as one of 25 "Stars of Europe."

As president of Thunderbird School of Global Management, Ángel Cabrera, Ph.D., guides a global community of students, corporate partners, alumni, faculty and staff distributed across more than 145 countries worldwide.

For more than 65 years, the school has been dedicated to developing leaders with the global mindset, business skills, entrepreneurial spirit and social responsibility necessary to create real, sustainable value for their organizations, their communities and the world.

Dr. Cabrera is a world-renowned global thought leader and management educator whose work and expertise have been recognized by top international organizations. The World Economic Forum named Dr. Cabrera a "Global Leader for Tomorrow" in 2002 and a "Young Global Leader" in 2005. Two years later, United Nations leaders asked Dr. Cabrera to chair the international taskforce that developed the UN's "Principles for Responsible Management Education." In 2008, he was appointed chairman of the Global Agenda Council for promoting entrepreneurship, and was also named a Crown Fellow by The Aspen Institute.

An outspoken advocate of corporate social responsibility and managerial professionalism, Dr. Cabrera inspired a student-led initiative that resulted in Thunderbird becoming the first business school in the world to formally adopt a Professional Oath of Honor. In addition to standardizing this commitment to social responsibility and professional ethics for Thunderbird students, he worked with the school's worldwide community to establish Thunderbird for Good in 2005, an initiative that leverages Thunderbird's expertise in international business to provide learning experiences for women entrepreneurs and non-traditional students who utilize business and management skills to fight poverty, secure peace and improve living conditions in their communities.

Dr. Cabrera is a frequent speaker at prestigious international forums and conferences, and he has authored numerous papers in leading academic journals. His expertise and views on global leadership, business education and corporate citizenship are often quoted by leading global media including The Economist, Time, CNN, CNBC, El País, Forbes, the International Herald Tribune and The New York Times. BusinessWeek honored him in 2004 as one of 25 "Stars of Europe," and in 2011 the Financial Times included him among the 20 leading business school deans in the world.

Dr. Cabrera serves on the board of specialty retailer PetSmart and currently chairs the Georgia Institute of Technology Advisory Board. He also serves on the boards of the Council for the International Exchange of Scholars (Fulbright scholars program), ESSEC Business School, the Iberoamerican Academy of Management, and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council. He is a founding board member of The Oath Project, and is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Greater Phoenix Leadership and the Future Trends Forum in Madrid. Before becoming president of Thunderbird, Dr. Cabrera was professor and dean at the Instituto de Empresa (IE), one of Europe's leading business schools.

A native of Spain, Dr. Cabrera holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain's premier engineering university. He earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in psychology and cognitive science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar.
