AR Student Coordinator

This position is responsible for various accounting functions, coordination and communication with students regarding financial responsibilities. Provides excellent customer service to students with billing questions and payments using both written and verbal communication.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate with degree-seeking students in regard to account balances, charges, credits and refunds
  • Process student account adjustments as needed (i.e., billing adjustment requests)
  • Print and distribute various student statements and reports as needed
  • Prepare and distribute monthly AR reports
  • Process invoice requests for company-sponsored students
  • Communicate with program managers regarding past-due account balances
  • Research and track overdue student account balances
  • Reconcile the assigned A/R and deposit accounts
  • Process student refunds as needed
  • Prepare and present orientation week presentations for degree-seeking students (occasional weekend and overtime work hours required)
  • Maintain and update all student files
  • Back-up Accountant I with FA transmittals, student refunds, company invoicing, as well as daily general ledger update processes
  • Performs other related duties as required by Bursar

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Cross-cultural communication skills and ability to effectively interact within a diverse student body

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma required, some college a plus
  • At least 2-3 years prior A/R and customer service experience
  • Experience in higher education preferred
  • Datatel or other educational software experience preferred
